On exotic linear materials: 2D elasticity and beyond

چکیده
The symmetry classes of a linear constitutive law define the different types anisotropy that can be modelled by it. However, spaces materials are very rich and whole range intermediate possibilities exists beyond classes. Geometric methods developed to characterise in fine way allow these detected. Materials with non-standard anisotropic properties associated called exotic materials. In this paper, we provide mathematical mechanical definition what an material is. Using definitions, conclude that, for 2D elasticity, there is only one possible meets our criteria. An example unit cell producing such determined. Finally, enumeration result obtained elasticity generalised other bi-dimensional laws.

Monolayer graphene, successfully isolated in 2004, is the firstmember of the class ofmaterials called twodimensional (2D) materials. Since then, 2D materials such as hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN), transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), silicene and phosphorene have been extensively investigated owing to their extraordinary mechanical, chemical, and physical properties. Furthermore, some of t...
متن کاملLocking-free finite element methods for linear and nonlinear elasticity in 2D and 3D ⋆
The uniform convergence of finite element approximations based on a modified Hu-Washizu formulation for the nearly incompressible linear elasticity is analyzed. We show the optimal and robust convergence of the displacement-based discrete formulation in the nearly incompressible case with the choice of approximations based on quadrilateral and hexahedral elements. These choices include bases th...
